Poetry Workshops are a literacy-based curriculum designed to promote personal character transformation and social change. Developed over the course of twenty-eight years of community organizing and educational programming throughout the Americas, the curriculum successfully engages students in a vision setting process designed to create a photo in the mind's eye of how the world--and nation, community and school-- ought to be. Students then develop the capacity to change themselves and change others to bring about that vision.

Leadership-Poetry Workshop develops life transforming skills and character. The purpose is to develop the ability in each individual to think more of others, and to think and act for the common good.

Students will develop the capacity to advocate for others.

The Leadership-Poetry Workshops follow an athletic model. There are coaches, players, practice sessions, strategies and real life leadership games or encounters. Your child will be involved in group processes that develop coaching skills, the ability to hear feedback and the ability to offer feedback to others.

Each student in the Leadership-Poetry Workshop will be asked to read, write and read what they write to others. The Workshop will improve reading and writing skills, and listening power of all students. The Workshops help each individual be a more genuine and effective person.

The Leadership-Poetry Workshop offers practice session, opportunities to participate in public speaking events, community and cultural exchanges, advanced academy nonviolence training and much more.
