Social justice organization seeks dedicated individuals for rigorous position of a Nonviolence Leadership Coach! Represent Dr. King in public schools & in homes with diverse families.

Americorps Position, 40 hrs, 10.5 months.

The Institute for Community Leadership seeks dedicated individuals to fill the rewarding position of a Nonviolence Leadership Coach! Individuals will represent the organization in public schools in South King and Pierce Counties and in the homes visiting with parents and guardians of diverse
students.

This position requires a strong desire to serve with exceptional leadership skills! It is for those willing to serve in a flexible environment including evenings and weekends. The Institute seeks individuals willing to dedicate themselves to the study, writing, and practice of Dr. King's nonviolence. Experience with diverse communities preferred (cultures and races other than
one's own) and a demonstrable cultural competency. Must have a vehicle.

Member to serve on a team with staff, students and volunteers on nonviolence leadership initiative. Responsibilities involve home visits, school presentations, coordinating specific nonviolence leadership classes with diverse middle and high school youth and adults, coordinating volunteers and
participants in ongoing activities and public events. The South King County Nonviolence Leadership Team focuses on Kent, Federal Way, Highline and Tacoma school districts. Member will also participate in community and public events together with students and parent volunteers. Programming incorporates writings and teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, Cesar
Chavez and other nonviolence practitioners.

10.5 Month Position, Sep 1, 2011 to July 15, 2012 $1050 Americorps monthly stipend, plus $5500 educational scholarship at conclusion of service. Plus medical benefits and childcare.Reduced price housing available here at our beautiful headquarters.
